GOODNESS OF NEEM
Neem tree is also known as Indian lilac or margosa tree. The Sanskrit name for neem was “nimba” which means good health. The Vedas called neem as the “Sarva Roga Nivarini” which means one that cures all ailments and ills. The neem tree has been used for more than 4500 years ago. Neem is a native to India, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Srilanka, Maldives, Nepal and Pakistan. It grows in many tropical and subtropical countries. In Tamil Nadu neem trees are found in some parts of Tirunelveli, Tuticorin. Etc. Neem tree is a fast growing tree that can grow up to 15-20m tall and sometimes it can even grow up to 35-40m. Neem tree is evergreen.

Neem is used as an ayurvedic medicine for years. The bark, leaves, seed, root, flower and fruits of the neem tree is used for making medicine. Neem is a natural air purifier. It can be used as a spermicide. Neem oil is used for preparing soaps, shampoos, lotions and other cosmetic products. Neem is also used for skin care such as acne treatment.

Neem wood is growing in toy making process. It has certain characteristics which makes it a valuable resource for making toys. Neem wood has rough grain with interlocking fibers which makes it strong and coarse. This property of the wood helps in durability and individuality of the wood. It does not easily split apart. It can be carved effortlessly either by using machines or hand tools. Neem woods are usually Reddish brown in color, this appealing color gives wooden toys an exquisite appearance. These woods are mildly aromatic. It is a pest-resistance wood so called the natural pesticide.
